busuu.com Campaigns to Save Nearly Extinct Language

The name of the website busuu.com comes from the language Busuu, spoken by only 8 people from Cameroon in Africa. This language has been declared “critically endangered” by UNESCO.

The people from busuu.com felt they had to do something in order to save this language from extinction so they sent a film-crew to the remote village of Weh in the jungle of Cameroon to find the last 8 native speakers of Busuu.

busuu.com has prepared a special learning unit in the Busuu language so you can learn some phrases of this nearly extinct language.

According to UNESCO, more than 3000 languages are endangered around the world. busuu.com is encouraging people to join their campaign “Save Busuu” and help them rescue the Busuu language.
