Catch of the Day - SpellQuizzer - 8 Sep 09

Today's interesting catch is SpellQuizzer

SpellQuizzer was developed by a father of two elementary school children. It was originally created to help the developer's children master their weekly spelling words. Soon his children were getting perfect scores on their spelling tests at school.

The typical approach to getting a student ready for weekly spelling tests is to dictate the words each day and the student writes them down. The spelling is then corrected and repeated. It's slow, tedious, and a chore for both the student and for you. SpellQuizzer allows you to automate this process, taking up less time for both you and the student. Each week you enter the student's spelling words into SpellQuizzer once. Then the student uses SpellQuizzer to practice his or her spelling words. Learning spelling words is faster and easier for kids with SpellQuizzer.

With SpellQuizzer a teacher or parent can create a student's spelling list in minutes making audio recordings of the words which SpellQuizzer will play back to the student when they are quizzed. When the student uses the software, SpellQuizzer takes them through their spelling list, playing the sound you recorded for each word. The student types in each word as it is presented. When a word is spelled incorrectly, SpellQuizzer alerts the student, displaying the correct spelling of the word. Once the student has completed the list, SpellQuizzer either congratulates him (if he entered all the words correctly) or gives him the opportunity to be re-quizzed on the words he missed. It takes only minutes a day for a typical student to master the weekly spelling words using SpellQuizzer.

The retail price is $29.95. However, you are free to download and use SpellQuizzer at no cost during a 30 day trial period. SpellQuizzer is currently available for Windows only.
