For each question you respond to correctly, 10 grains of rice is is donated through the World Food Program. Get an answer right and the next question will be more difficult.

FreeRice is a non-profit interactive website run by the United Nations World Food Program in partnership with the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.

FreeRice has two goals ...

  • To provide free education to everyone
  • To provide free rice to hungry people to help end world hunger.

While you improve your vocabulary, math skills, and so on, the rice donated makes a difference to hungry people by helping them to live better and be more productive. Just think that somewhere in the world, a person could be eating rice that your right answers helped provide.

The rice is paid for by the banner ads you see when you enter a correct answer. The banners that appear on FreeRice are monitored to ensure that no inappropriate content is displayed.
