The Genetic Science Learning Center is a science and health education program that sprung from the bioscience research at the University of Utah. The mission of the Genetic Science Learning Center is to make "science easy for everyone to understand."
The Genetic Science Learning Center provides educational materials and programs for global audiences. These include two free websites available worldwide:
- Learn.Genetics delivers educational materials designed to be used by students, teachers, and others. The materials on genetics, bioscience, and health topics meet selected US education standards for science and health.
- Teach.Genetics provides resources for K-12 and higher educators. These include printable PDF activities, unit plans, and other supporting resources. These materials are designed to support and extend the materials found on Learn.Genetics.
Professional development programs from the Genetic Science Learning Center update K-16 teachers' knowledge and skills in bioscience and health topics and prepare them to use the materials on the websites.
Genetic Science Learning Center resources provide accurate, unbiased information about topics in genetics, bioscience, and health. They are intended for non-research audiences, jargon-free, target multiple learning styles, and often impart ideas through animation and interactivity.
You can sign up for the Genetic Science Learning Center email list to keep abreast of the latest news on Learn.Genetics and Teach.Genetics, as well as Summer Institute and workshop announcements.
