 Kaizena 3

Kaizena reinvents the teacher feedback process. It’s as easy as highlighting and speaking. Voice comments make your feedback personal and engaging.

Kaizena 1

Giving feedback with Kaizena is faster than using a word processor, or even a red pen with its negative connotations. Kaizena is built to save you time, allowing prompt, useful feedback.

Other features of Kaizena:

  • Students can respond to your feedback with a voice comment of their own.
  • Support for text comments.
  • Attach a resource.

Kaizena 2

Common problems can be taken care of with reusable mini-lessons. Add a link once, and reuse it every time you encounter that same problem.

Featured: 5-21-2013 RealtimeBoard [Tools]

RealtimeBoard 2

RealtimeBoard is an online tool for creating and implementing real-time visual presentation and collaboration.

RealtimeBoard online whiteboards can enrich your lessons:

  • Use whiteboards to dynamically draw your lessons.
  • Discuss the tasks with students either in or out of the classroom.
  • Access boards any time from everywhere.
  • Make a rich presentation to share with your class.

RealtimeBoard

Create a new board from a template or from scratch. You can upload your own images or use images from the RealtimeBoard library of vector images. Add videos to your boards by pasting YouTube or Vimeo links. Use the mark-up tools to draw, create text, and make sticky notes.

RealtimeBoard 1

RealtimeBoard works with Google Drive, too. Drag-and-drop files from Google Drive onto your boards. With a Chrome extension, grab images from websites and web searches right to the RealtimeBoard library.

Watch a video demo of RealtimeBoard

Share your RealtimeBoard public boards, or keep boards private. Invite colleagues to share boards. Set access rights: editors can make changes to your boards, viewers cannot.

COD - 4/4/2012 - Google Docs OCR [Tools]

20120327-82fs6h7jgteipedc1uts63xd84.png

Use the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) capabilities of Google Docs to convert PDFs and scanned images of pages to editable text for free.

Google Docs supports importing and converting scanned text documents. Upload your scanned images (JPEG, GIF, PNG) or PDFs, check the option to “Convert text from PDF and image files to Google documents”, and Google Docs will extract text and formatting from the scans that you can edit.

Google Docs OCR works best with high-resolution images, and not all formatting may be preserved. To help ensure the accuracy of the OCR translation, the original PDF/image is included in the new document, followed by the editable transcript of its contents. So, each page of the original document converts as two pages - one original image, and one of the rendered editable text.

Catch of the Day - gFlash+ - 5 Mar 10

The catch of the day is gFlash+, flashcards for iPhone/iPod Touch

gFlash+ is a free flashcard app for the iPhone/iPod Touch. There are a lot of flashcard apps in the app store and I've been trying out many of the free ones. gFlash+ is one of the easier to use, more versatile such apps.

One of the strengths of gFlash+ is that new card sets can be created with a simple two-column spreadsheet in Google Docs and downloaded directly to the gFlash+ app on your mobile device. You can also download card sets from the gFlash catalog directly to your device, as well as load cardsets from content partners; StudyStack and the FlashcardExchange.

Screenshots

Any two column Google Spreadsheet can become a set of flashcards or a reference guide. However gFlash offers templates on their web site that make creating content easy, give you control over how certain fields display on the mobile device, give you control over certain modes, such as disable multiple choice, Study Mode, and Q&A reversal, and makes the content search-able if you later share the document with gWhizMobile@gmail.com .

All gFlash apps support image files hosted on the internet. You can embed audio (.mp3, .mp4, and .wav) references to files stored on the Internet and YouTube video file references in the appropriate Google Spreadsheet cell.

Watch a Demo Video

The free app, gFlash+ [iTunes app store link], has a limit of 13 cards in a set and includes small ads. There is also a paid version gFlashPro available for $4.99, with unlimited cards in a set and no ads.
