gFlash+ is a free flashcard app for the iPhone/iPod Touch. There are a lot of flashcard apps in the app store and I've been trying out many of the free ones. gFlash+ is one of the easier to use, more versatile such apps.
One of the strengths of gFlash+ is that new card sets can be created with a simple two-column spreadsheet in Google Docs and downloaded directly to the gFlash+ app on your mobile device. You can also download card sets from the gFlash catalog directly to your device, as well as load cardsets from content partners; StudyStack and the FlashcardExchange.

Any two column Google Spreadsheet can become a set of flashcards or a reference guide. However gFlash offers templates on their web site that make creating content easy, give you control over how certain fields display on the mobile device, give you control over certain modes, such as disable multiple choice, Study Mode, and Q&A reversal, and makes the content search-able if you later share the document with gWhizMobile@gmail.com .
All gFlash apps support image files hosted on the internet. You can embed audio (.mp3, .mp4, and .wav) references to files stored on the Internet and YouTube video file references in the appropriate Google Spreadsheet cell.

The free app, gFlash+ [iTunes app store link], has a limit of 13 cards in a set and includes small ads. There is also a paid version gFlashPro available for $4.99, with unlimited cards in a set and no ads.
