Writing Roadmap™ is an online writing tool from CTB/McGraw Hill that provides an effective way for students in grades 3–12 (aged 8-17) to practice and improve their writing, as well as for teachers to measure and track writing proficiency for students.
Writing Roadmap uses validated and practice items containing short prompts in any of four styles: narrative, informative/expository, descriptive, or persuasive, as well as reading passages for students to write about. Teachers can select writing assignments across five genres from CTB's assignment library or they can create and use their own assignments.
Writing Roadmap implements CTB's Mosaic™ automated essay-scoring technology to drive a newly developed scoring engine calibrated to provide grade specific scores. Immediate reporting provides students guidelines for improving writing and gives teachers insights on their students writing proficiency. Scoring by Writing Roadmap claims to match human scoring.
Writing Roadmap uses rubrics and measures the traits commonly used within state and national standards. It helps prepare students for state writing assessments as well as the GED Test, SAT, and ACT.
